Scope and Content
Seven cash books and seven coal books relating to the business and personal expenses of Curttis Grubb. The cash books contain personal, household, business and travel expenses. Several entries reference Hopewell Forge, individuals involved with Grubb's iron interests and transactions concerning pig iron and castings. The first four cash books were kept by Thomas Edwards for Grubb; the fifth (1773-1779) was kept by Curttis Grubb and the latter two are unattributed. The seven coal books contain the names of charcoal burners and the amounts of charcoal received from each individual.
